Nice to Meet You
Welcome to Motiveight’s first blog! I have a confession to make. I’m not a blogger, I know I know, but it’s true. It’s not natural for me to write out what I’m thinking and share with the world my emotions, what I’m listening to, what I’m reading, what I’ve learned, or what I am excited about. I am quite jealous of people who can write out everything they are trying to say with witty banter and keep me entertained and interested for an entire blog, but that’s not me… I’m a people person. I thrive off of conversation and human interaction. That’s not to say I don’t see how important blogging is. Millions of people are turning off the TV and radio and turning to blogs, and sites that focus on user generated content. I definitely see the value in communicating clearly using these online platforms. But where do you start? How do you write your first blog? Here is what I have learned…
1. Use headlines. Not just boring ones that announce your purpose but interesting or puzzling
2. Realize that people have millions of choices. Know that your readers can leave at any moment, so make your blog writing shorter more exciting
3. It’s okay to include links or distractions in your posts, because your readers will come back if what you have to say is interesting
4. Interact with your readers. Reading your email or your comments makes it easy to stay relevant
5. Don’t be afraid of lists. People like lists.( I hope. If not, I just lost any return readers)
6. Keep writing! Waiting for the perfect topic, or perfect idea won’t help.
Good Luck!
